Dinli Gear Change
#1
I wanted your guys opinion on changing sprockets on my son's Dinli Diamondback 50cc. We live in West Virginia which is obviously mountainous. The problem is the Dinli doesn't have any power when climbing even the slightest incline. If you always ride it on level ground and hold the throttle down long enough it goes very fast. I feel that putting a slower gear set in it will give it more torque, and climbing power, and frankly he really doesn't need the top end speed, so it seems like an inexpensive win/win for me. Do you guys think i'm on the right track? Do you have any recomendations on what I should buy? Thanks alot.

On my daughters yamoto 50. I changed the front sproket from a 14 tooth to a 12 tooth. It lets the engine rev up a lot easier. It probably will not cure the entire problem. The fact is its still a 50cc engine. They only have so much power. It does help though. I was able to use the front sprocket from a 98 honda xr50 or zr50, don't remember exactly anymore, and a chain 2 links shorter than stock, 88 down to 86. As for top speed I'm sure it hurts some but our bike feels much faster now since it can accelerate much better down low with the change.

I'd like to have a 14T front sprocket, but I can't seem to find one. I'd take a bigger rear sprocket, but I can't find one of those either. I have 428 16T front sprocket and a 32T rear with 3 bolts. If anyone could help me find something I'd appreciate it.

If you have a 428 chain then the sprockets from the honda z50 will not work that I used. The yamoto used a 420 chain. If this is a honda clone engine go to http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/ and see which models used the 428 chain. There search lists this info. You will need to know how many splines your front sprocket has. They have pictures of most of there sprockets. They also list rear sprockets
