Default 149cc Carb bowl leaks like crazy

Greetings & salutations,
We recently bought an import 149cc 4 wheeler. It starts easy and purrs at idle. At first start up & idle there is no fuel leaking from the overflow tube. Reving the engine creates no leak either...run it around the block and come back to idle and the overflow tube from the bowl streams gasoline. Even as it is streaming gas, the idle purrs. If I turn it off the stream continues until the tank is empty. I called the selling company who instructed me to inspect the o ring on the screw at the bowl (air/fuel mix screw perhaps?). The o ring is intact and appears flawless. Btw, loosening that screw causes even more gas to flow and removing it causes gas to flow from the screw location. When I first assembled the machine, I let idle for sometime as it burned off that funny smell from the exhaust. I am no mechanic but I'd be up for attempting repair if someone could give me some pointers.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Hi Zona5101,

There may be some leftovers from the Gell pack that is in the carb gumming up the needle and seat. Try this first off.

1. Turn off the fuel
2. Open that screw on the bottom of the bowl and let all the fuel out of the bowl.
3. Turn on fuel (Remember to leave the bowl screw open) and let the fuel drain for about 15 - 20 seconds.
4. Turn off fuel.
5. Let bowl drain again.
6. Close bowl drain screw.
7. Turn on fuel and wait to see.

9 out of 10 times this will resolve these kind of problems.

copy that. Thanks.
We have ridden the machine for approx 2 hours total running time on both on the road and the dirt so I suspect there has been time to clear any gel pack material but I will try your suggestion. Also read a post to rap on the carb with the back of a screwdriver...will apply this as well.
If that is not it, what would be my next step?

Take the bowl off and inspect the needle and seat to see if there is any damage. If there is no damage, try bending the float up a little bit. This will lower the fuel level in the bowl
