Default What kind of oil?

Hello.. I was wondering.. I bought some NON-DETERGENT SAE-30 motor oil. The brand is "Genuine" (from Walmart). Is this ok to use in the Kazuma Falcon 110cc 3 speed semi automatic?

I think for best results that you do need a detergent oil (helps keep things clean). Probably a 10-40 rated with SE, SF, or SG would serve you better.

Thanks buckaroo for the reply! Thats interesting tho.. A while back someone on these forums had told me to use only non-detergent oil for wet clutches..Something about it helping prevent from the oil breaking down the clutch.

I guess I will just use this for now and next time go with one with detergent..or maybe just alternate..hell I dunno! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

I know that oils labeled specifically for ATVs or Motorcycles are supposed to be safe for wet clutches. I don't know how that plays in to the detergent/non-detergent issue - I think they are 2 different issues. I'm sure someone here knows more about it and will be checking in this week.

I love to save money as much as the next guy, but I buy the stuff that say sspecifically for wet clutches because even though the price tag is a lot higher it's really not that much if you think of it in terms of how much/how often you have to buy. For me, that's one quart a couple of times a year.

I agree.. I'd buy specific motorcycle oil.. but I can never find it! Even Advanced Auto Parts carried only ONE kind and the guy had to go search around in the back for it!

Where do you buy your oil??

Checker Auto in my neighborhood (Tucson, Arizona) carries 3 choices for motorcycle-specific oil, and I've seen one labeled "ATV" in Wal-Mart.
