I just got an 01 Raptor 80 for my son. Fun little unit but its weird. It'll run fine for a while but then all of a sudden it just bogs out at half to full throttle. Gonaa start with a carb tear down and cleaning. Sound right or is there anything else I should look for. Put an inline spark tester in it and that seems fine.

 

does it still have the air restictor plate installed on the air filter. If so remove it, i've read a couple of posts where there have been bogging down problems from it.

since you got the quad used cleaning the carb., adjusting the valves and changing the engine oil would probably be a good start toward solving the problem.
