Default Artic cat 90 bogging

I was riding my 03 artic cat 90 today and noticed it was having a bogging problem. It would sputter, backfire, cough, bogg, then run good for awhile. I have removed all restricters and it ran fine back in june. I put fresh fuel in today and it started to run like this. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do???

I would try cleaning out the carb and check the filter and lines for crap that might be obstructing the flow(pull off the line and run some fuel into a jar for example)..Also try a new spark plug.

I pulled the rubber intake boot off today and had alot of gas in the intake boot. I ran it without the boot on and still had lots of gas coming out of the carb. Almost seems like the choke isn't working. It's an electric choke but the battery is removed. Can I put a manual choke on? The carb is clean, that was the first thing I checked. I'll get a new plug tomorrow and go from there.

I'd like to know more about the electrical system on this bike. I bought it used and got no key with the bike. The brake safety switch is gone and the battery is removed. I just use the kick starter and it starts on the first every time.

It may be a choke problem then...The electrics seem to cause lots of troubles..Eton did sell a retrofit manual choke kit for their earlier bikes...It might work on the cat but I don't know how much they cost..It might be cheaper to buy a new carb with a manual choke.

you are right when my Battery goes dead or almost dead the bike does not run right or not at all and i think this is because of the electric choke, charge the battery up and it works fine, 04 90 4 stroke.

Thanks guys, I bought a 20 mm manual choke carb to replace the electric choke. Do any of the 2-stroke guys run a carb spacer on their bikes? I haven't bought a new intake yet, so I was going to machine a 3/4 inch spacer. I'll re jet and see how it works. If it works well I'll let ya'll know and if demand is high I will machine some for you guys. Let me know who all is interested in one of these spacers!! I'll have a price for them probablly next week.

Team sims racing sells the carbs for about $85 plus $20-$25 for a cable. Those bikes dont need a "carb spacer" The arctic cat 90 has a piece of junk for a choke system and the 20mm keihin carb helps starting, power etc. it's a really good mod. My kids have worn out many motors on arctic cats and we have about 5 years riding, racing and building the arctic cat 90s.
