new china ATV carb adjument ??
#1
I just bought A ATV for my 5YR old and so far its doing ok. I paid $599 for an 110cc. So far I changed the oil , plug and did the carb adjustment per directions posted on this site. It was running a little rich but seems to be doing a little better. It does seem to be lagging with the first 1/4 throttle some times I have to give him a little push to get him going so I'm thinking of adjusting the slide on the needle Has anyone had luck with this for increasing the first 1/4 of the throttle? My Cable on the carb looks to go in on the top so I guess this is where I need to go in for the adjustment, either ill have to remove the tank to get to it or remove the Carb. I'm not sure if it's worth the work. But if it will stop me from giving him a push all the time it might be worth it. Thanks for all the great advice. Jeff

Are you running too rich or to lean. Most of my chinese atvs we run 2 turns out on air fuel screw and bottom notch on needle. Factory setting is usually in the middle. If its too rich move up on the needle if its too lean move the clip down on the needle. If you need too push it to start it out are you sure you dont need to adjust the clutch?

I have it set to two turns and its running/starting pretty good after doing the adjustment but im looking for a little more power to get him started sence I have the speed turned down. Thats why im thinking about moving the clip to give him a little more gas when he starts off. I only need to give him a push if he starts on a little slop. If its flat ground it will go fine .

My sons quad is like that if you turn the throttle stop in too far. Where I have it set now, he has enough throttle to get him moving in most situations with a max speed of about 20 MPH. Anything less than that and I sometimes have to help him get moving from a stop. It depends on the type of terrain.

I adjusted the slide needle to where it will recieve more gas and adjusted the air mixture for more air. Maybe this will help out with the slow start. I had the camera out so i look some Pics of how you do it for those of us that need pictures. (pics speak a thousand words). Ill let you know if it helps or not. It was set in the middle so i moved it all the way down.
Brandon tearing it up at an empty lot

remove cap

what it looks like after removing. Take note of how it came out and replace it the same way. mine came out with the removel slot for the cable towards me.

Remove clip then remove needle and then adjust clip on the needle.up for less gass down for more.
