Default Buy a 48

My son is 9 and he is over 48" tall and he rides a TRX90. He is also autistic and handles the atv a lot better than we ever thought he would!

It depends on whether the trail you take him to looks closely... Most will send him home. Think legal. Now I know the CPSC guidelines are not law, but at last count teh majority of states have begun to adapt their local regulations around them. Whether we like that or not. Some states also will bless you with a hefty fine in some cases. You never know what you are going to get on the trail. You might have him sit on a few. The Yamaha 50 and 80 share teh same chassis. the only difference is the tire size. You can upgrade that and gain a little height... Also you might want to look at their grizzly 80 if you choose to go the larger route. They even have a 125 version that fits in between the full size and mini's. This really is getting to be a huge problem for parents who want to do the right thing and get their child a machine that fits them from a safety perspective. If only the manufacturers would listen to what the industry is crying for and build that gap machine... Keep the small motors, just give us a slightly larger frame to fit our kids.
