Trail tires
#1
I need to get some opinions on tires for a kids quad. The machine has 18X8.5X8 chinese tires. They are a hard rubber and I don't think they will do very good in mud or on slick wet rocky trails. We will see shallow slick clay type mud and jut normal forest mud not too deep. Water and water crossings along with steep rocky hills. I can go wider but don't want to go much taller for both stability and power reasons. Max would be a 20 inch tire on the rear. What has worked well for you guys and what would you suggest. There will also be snow and slush in the shaded areas for the first several weeks when we get up higher.
We ride some sand too but I will probably get him a set of cheap paddles for that on seperate rims.

Looks like you are out of eastern Idaho. I live in SW Idaho. You are right lots of great places to ride. Just got into ATVing late last year so looking forward to the fun. I hear that the Maxxis Bighorn tires are pretty good for all around Idaho type stuff.
I think when I am ready that they will find a way onto my units. Hope this helps and maybe I will see you on the trails...
