Default 110cc ZongShen Oil in exhaust

Hello,
And thanks in advance for all help I receive on this. These forums are fantastic and I've used them 3 times already to get me this far. But, I haven't found a answer to this problem via the regular search.

I acquired a LongChang 110cc ATV from my neighbor and it was smoking a little bit, so I decided to change the rings. No, problem, ordered the rings, installed them, got everything back together, got it timed (thanks to the forums here), and it fired right up. Runs like a kitten for about 3 minutes.

Then, I notice smoke coming from the tailpipe and pure oil leaking from the exhaust pipe on the head (It's actually running down the screw and dripping off). I removed the spark plug and found it to be dry. However, when I removed the head, the top of the piston had oil on it.

I figure the metal portion of the head gasket is probably out of whack and allowing oil to seep into the bore from the oil port next to it.

I've taken it apart a total of 3 times and find the same oil in the same places each time.

My question is whether permatex will help in this case (around the oil port), and if I should replace the rubber gasket (o-ring) between the 2 heads for the oil port, or if I should just replace the gasket all together.

OF COURSE, THIS MIGHT NOT EVEN BE MY PROBLEM!

Which is why I'm here and begging for your assistance. Can anyone diagnose my problem and set me on the path to enlightenment (before I start looking for pills to swallow)?

Thank You!

If you have access to all of the gaskets, it whould be a cheap fix to start with. I would start there and work up to any bigger problems. More than likely, this will cure the problem though. I would be leary of using the permatex if I had access to the proper gaskets.

Thanks for the info! I remembered when I first took it apart that the head bolts weren't that tight. Not having any of these small engines since I was a kid 25 years ago, I didn't get the engine design of everything stacked on top of each other. I don't have the manual with the torque settings (if these small engines have torque values, and if anyone has ANY MANUAL FOR ANY CHINESE 100CC ENGINE, PLEASE PDF it and post it here!), so when I put the new rings in and saw the gasket with the metal ring, I figured to crank the **** out of it to compress that metal ring between the two heads.

I now think I was cranking down too hard on everything and not letting the design to its thing. I've since taken it back apart, cleaned everything up, and put it back together. I lessend up on the pressure and the smoking and leaking has diminished some. I'll keep working the heat/leak/smoke thing. Maybe I can get the correct torque by trial/error? I'll keep trying...
