My son has a Eton Viper 90R. His model is a two stroke; oil injection system. The manual calls for synthetic oil and 93% octane gas. I made sure that the gas was at least 93% octane and the oil was compatible with oil injection systems.
What I am basically saying is use what is recomended, to reduce possible engine wear.

You could use motorcycle specific oil, or you could save your money and buy regular oil. I use Valvoline 10w-40(regular oil) in all my Honda thumpers and my Chinese quads. No clutch related problems in over 15 years with the Honda's. KTM gets Amsoil 10w40 motorcycle oil.
