LT80 difficult to start when engine is warm
#1
Back with another question. I have a 99 LT80 my boy loves. Put it in the shop for a once over and tune up. It started like a dream and ran great...only problem now is once the engine is warm and we shut it down, it gets harder and harder to start. After shutting it down for (short rest breaks/lunch) it is difficult to start. Had to tow it home twice with my E-ton. It seems to start better with the choke on, and I smell gas when it's cranking. the engine catches momentaily, but then shuts down. Have worn the battery down trying to start it both times. Improper starting procedures might be the issue. When cold, it does not require any throttle to start. When war, it seems to need it. Any suggestions would be great.

get a fuel shut off or rebuild your carb.the needle and seat is leaking gas into the cyl. and cousing a very rich mixture. it starts when cold becouse it needs a rich mixture. when warm it doesent. give that a try.
nother thing when it dosent start hold throttle wide open and see if it starts better when warm.

tried starting it just now, no joy. Engine was stone cold. Same symptons..wants to start, catches for a split second but won't start. Strong gas smell.
Had repair shop disconnect oil injection. Premixing at 32 to 1 ratio. Added another petcock because original leak badly.

My bad, not big on theory. Just had one act like that when it got low on compression. Probably a fluke.

The carb needs cleaned. That's why;: "had the same problem with gas passing the needle and seat and filling cyl. and flooding out wount start and dead battery".
Full throttle till it starts and revs up.

had the compression checked when it was in the shop. My guess, because of the strong gas smell, the problem is flooding. Does this make sense? Might be my battery is having a hard time holding a charge, and just plain running down too quickly. Might need to replace this.
