We bought a like-new 2003 LT50 for our 3 year old son. He road that for 4 years and moved up to a Scrambler 90 now. We now have a 3 year old and 2 year old that will move up to the LT50 once they are ready. We have a Powerwheels quad that they all started riding. It's beat to death, but still works!

Well.....I did say that I may wait until he's 5 lol. I just want something that won't be way more than he can handle, but big enough to last a few years.

Definitely check out craigslist.

That's where I got the project quad from.

200 bucks. Keeping in mind, this is the same qaud as a Polaris Predator 90. They had a 2002 model pred for 1200 bucks. I figure with the total tear down and rebuild, I'll have about 600-700 totally invested. It will last more than a few years, then sell it for what I have in it.</end quote></div>

Checked out my area and surrounding areas, nothing yet but thanks for the heads up.

Just wanna throw this "FYI" out there. When my son was 5 we decided to get him a quad for Christmas. The dealer recommended a 50cc. I felt like you do (I'll just govern down a 70cc). I did end up purchasing the 70, but only because my son was within 4lbs of the max weight for the 50. I governed the bike down as slow as she'd go and I could barely catch up to it on foot. I ended up riding with him on it for the next couple of months. His 70 was an E-ton Viper which comes factory with a safety tether and you can also get a remote kill for it for about an additional $80. I would recommend a remote kill if your going to govern down that 90. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I would definitely look for the remote as a main consideration when buying it would be helpful at least until I felt confident in my grandsons riding ability.
