KIDS BEST ATV CHOICE
#2
First step is one of the little electric Power Wheels. My dad got one for my first son on his first BD - He really could not ride it, just not strong enough or cooridinated enough. By 18 months though he had figured it out, even learned to slam a sneaker on the slick floor to make a tighter turn. By age 4 he was driving a Power Wheels jeep and cruising with the little girl next door .
Beyond that it's really something that you will have to decide for yourself - guaging how well your kid could handle a gas powered quad. For most, age 6 is realistic to put them on a small 50cc bike. Some kids could start a little earlier, some later - you just have to see how strong they are and if they can learn the controls. Whatever you do, don't rush them and don't put them on too large a bike.
Take it slow and they will grow into the sport.

Hi, I have a son who is 2.5 years old. He has loved any kind of bike since he could pick a toy. I have always been into bikes and quads and the same with his mommy, since I was young so this was an interest we were willing fulfill for him.
At about 12 months old we bought a small $70 spiderman (girl version is Dorra) power wheel atv from Walmart. For a month or so he would just hold down the throttle and horn button at the same time running into walls. Then he began to turn and just master the whole process of riding. By 18 months he begain doing tricks on it like standing on the seat while he's riding throwing his legs out the side like a no-footer,etc. He watches alot of riding videos and gathers ideas from there. By 2 years old I made the decision to buy a atv in the future. Now it's summer and we made that happen. We bought a BMX Brand 110cc with the intent of doubling with him and just working on the functions on a real vehicle. He is like I said 2.5 years old now and has had the quad about a month and can ride solo. He has a very good understanding on the throttle and using minimal of it (atv has a throttle limiter used for saftey)and transitioning into the rear brakes to limit speed and off course stop. He only likes to ride solo for a for minute long bursts stopping after a few seconds of throttle but I'm very proud.
In short my son is in my opinion advanced in this area since his introduction was from basically from birth and shows extreme love for the sport. As he should he practices saftey with his youth HJC helmet, gloves, goggles, and soon a chest protector. I hope our experience gave you some insight! Good luck and maybe one day our children will meet on a motocrosss track!

AAAAWWWWW that's sooo cute how you want to get your baby girl on a quad!! And she isn't even born yet...........
My little girls are 8 and 10. They have one 110 quad that they share (see the Christmas post). They also have youth shotguns and youth riflles, plus youth bows!!!!! My girls are tough.......just the way my husband and I want them to be!
I agree with starting with the electric stuff. That will give her some great driving skills. They have some that are super tiny that an 18 month old could drive. Congratulations Daddy, and I hope her Mommy has a safe and easy delivery.
P.S. Remember, if she breastfeeds, you won't ever have to get out of bed in the middle of the night to feed her...........LOL. Plus, breast milk is the perfect food for human babies, It's very healthy, and it's always available, and at the correct temp.
