Default HELP NEEDED TO IDENTIFY ENGINE

HI GUYS&GIRLS,
I GOT MY SON A 50CC IMPORT QUAD AND HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH IT,
(I KNOW NOT TO EXPECT IT LAST AS THEY ARE NOT THE BEST BUILD QUALIY, BUT MY SONS ONLY 4 AND A HALF AND I WANTED TO SEE HOW HE GETS ON WITH ONE FIRST BEFORE HE STEPS UP TO A BRANDED BIKE.

ANY WAYS I DONT KNOW WHAT MAKE THIS QUAD IS AS THE NO REAL MARKINGS ON IT AND THERES A FEW PROBLEMS I NEED TO SORT OUT BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT PARTS IM GETTING FOR WHAT ENGINE. ON THE PULL START COVER IS SAYS (CQ50S) I THINK THIS IS A COPY OF THE SUZUKI LT50 AS IT LOOKS VERY SIMILAR

I NEED A NEW CLUTCH AS DADDY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO TRY AND GO UP A BIG HILL AND BURN THE CLUTCH OUT, OOPS. BUT NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF CLUTCH IT USES.ENGINE SEEMS LIKE ITS RUNNING FINE BUT GOES NOWHERE WHEN YOU SIT ON IT BUT WHEELS TURN WHEN YOU LIFT THEM OFF THE GROUND.
ALSO ELECTRIC START PACKED BUT CAN USE THE PULL START INSTEAD.
WHERE IS THE STARTER MOTOR?

NEXT PROBLEM IS THE STATOR IS WRECKED AND CANNOT FIND ON LIKE IT ANYWHERE.
I HAVE LOTS OF PICS TO SHOW IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME IDENTIFY THE ENGINE. NOT SURE HOW TO UPLOAD PICS YET
THANK YOU, WAYNE

You can post pics in your gallery, just go to My Page just near the top of the page, and follow the instructions.

Or you can put them on webhosting site like photobucket or flickr. Once they are hosted, you can left click on the pic, click on properties, copy the address, and come back here to the reply section.

Just to the left of the http thing, you'll see what looks like a picture. The past the address you had copied, add any text if you wish, and hit reply.

And welcome to the forums Piston-Muncher.

Also, have you checked the frame for VIN #? May have the manufacturers name on it.

Yes using the wrong type of 10/40 oil can cause the clutch to slip. I always use Yamaha Trans Oil in my 2 stroke wet clutch applications. If you used automotive grade oil with additives the clutch may develop slippage. I would tend to think that this is not your problem. I think your problem is from age and use. Your quad is probably 4 to 5 years old.

Good Luck,

SB.
