Used QuadSport 80 - Need Advice
#1
My kids have been riding Honda TRX 90s for a while and just last week I ran across a good deal on a 2003 Suzuki QuadSport 80, so I bought it. Since I am new to the QuadSport I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. Problem One: When my kids decelerate on it, there is a very noticable whine coming from the cvt setup I guess. Is this normal. It sounds similar to a bad bearing to me. Again, I am used to the ultra quiet 4 stroke engine on the Honda 90 and I am not sure how the cvt tranny should sound. Problem 2: The other question I have is regarding the exhaust smoke. The more rpms the quad turns the more it smokes. There is oil coming out of the muffler and when the kids finish riding the lower part of the muffler will have oil residue on it where it dripped out of it. Maybe I need to get a new kind of oil for it? The 80 runs great, but I just wanted to make sure these things are normal. By the way, the gentleman I purchased the 80 from aid that it had only been through one tank of oil, so I so not feel that it has a lot of hours on it. Thanks for your help.

I bought one that had been sitting for a long time. Oil had seeped from the tank down into the engine. Trying to start it blew that oil into the muffler. The hotter it got and faster it went the more it smoked. I thought it was blowing up so I did the top end. Put it back together and it still smoked. It was just burning off the oil in the muffler but had me stumped till it cleared up. I took off the oil injection and use premix now Hope it's something simple like that.

Thanks Otis. He did tell me that it had not been ridden much at all in the past 2 years. Maybe it will clear up the more they ride it. Any ideas on the whine on deceleration.
