the quad is a 2006 redcat 200cc .... it wont turn over but i can get it to start by catching it in gear.... i took the cover off where the starter meets the gears in the engine and you can see the starter moving but when all together it wont turn over it just makes a churning noise and occasionally a small sound of combustion but nothing happens... is it maybe the clutch cable isnt engaging enough?? i really have no clue and any help would be appreciated...

 

So you can push start it fine? How's the Battery, is it charged (good)?

 

yea pushing it works... i am pretty sure the battery was charged but as i kept trying it it was dying so i put it on a slow charger this morning... but any other time it was dead it would just do like a half crank and would start clicking .. this is totally different i dont know how to really describe the sound it makes.. just seems like the gears are just turning around and nothing happens...

i don't quite understand what you are saying, are you saying the engine does not turn over but the starter and and starter gear does? or are you saying the starter doesn't turn over?or the engine turns over slowly?

if the starter is turning the starter gear but does not turn the engine over then its the starter clutch.

if the starter doesn't turn over, then it could be starter, starter relay, battery, ground wire

if the starter is turning the engine over but to slow to it doesn't fire, battery

yea the starter turns but doesnt turn the engine over... whats the deal with a starter clutch... expensive? hard to replace? whats weird is it kind of just happened all of a sudden not even when riding it.. i think i just went to start it one day and it was doing it.. it was a little over a month ago so i dont really remember

 

this is still kind of up in the air for me... anyone know what i should do?
