Default Speeding up a Tank 150 auto ?

I just got my son a Tank brand 150 full auto atv. It has plenty of get up and go but it is slow. The top speed of about a 50cc atv if that. Has anyone else that has gotten a 150 cc CVT found the same problem ? It is the basic GY6 engine.
Thanks,
D.

top speed on the gy6 should be around 30-32 mph. make sure the thottle stop screw on the thumb thottle is remove or at least screwed all the way out .

It actually sounds like the belt is slipping , this atv has less than a couple of hours on it. It has done this since it was right out of the crate. I have had the cover off and the belt isn't in bad shape unless it has the wrong belt on it or something. It has good take off but I bet the thing doesn't even do 25 mph and it sounds like it is going to fly apart.
Any ideas,
Thanks,
D.

if the belt was slipping you're know it right away by the squilking sound and of course you can't miss the smoke. what i'd do is remove the cvt cover, jack the rear wheels off the ground and just rev up the engine, you should see the belt move up and down on the variator, at high engine rpm's the belt should be at the top of the variator pully and bottom of the clutch pully. if it's not then you need to remove the variator and check the rollers, you'll need to check them to make sure you have them all, are installed correctly and that they are not flat spotted
