taotao 250D starting engine problem(maybe?)
Hello guys, I'm a complete newbie so everything that happens with this chinese girl is for me brand new, now the problem is when I try to turn on the engine it sounds like "trying" to, however it doesn´t turns on.
What I have done is to pull the acceleration while pressing the "start" button, and then the quad starts just as normal, but I have to leave pulling the acceleration in order to have the quad turned on, and if I try to change from "N" to "1" it jumps and turns off , any ideas about this? or how to correctly start up the engine?

Welcome to the forum theatv!
You need to adjust the idle on the carburator..Its a screw that sticks out the side of the carb most likely on the left side while sitting on the quad. turn it in 1/2 a turn and try to start it again.. if it wont run unless you push the accelerator. Turn it in 1/2 turn again and try to start it again. keep repeating this until it runs on its own.

I agree with mywifesquad.
Adjust your idle. On my Tao250D its a small gold flat head screw with a spring round it going into the Carb. This is if the engine shuts off while sitting in Neutral.
Also make sure your choke is not half on.
As for the problem going form N to 1.... as you know, you'll have to give it gas while slowly letting off the clutch to get it going, thats normal.

Thats is the idle screw you have posted.
Remember your not changing the screw out, just turning it to set the idle.
Have your bike in Neutral and then with it running turn the screw to
allow more gas and thus let your bike continue running when the throttle is not being pressed.
The right foot pedal is your rear brake. you have to have the brake pressed to start the quad. You can either use the right foot brake or the right hand brake (that is for the front brakes)
The left hand lever is the clutch.
when you want to move.
keep the left hand "clutch" pulled, put into first gear or reverse, and then give it a constant throttle while slowly letting off the left hand level "clutch"
if you have any questions about the 250D you can either post them here or email me "

hello guys, well I have no luck, this is what I did (before moving the screw):
I just pressed the "start" button and then the acceleration (sometimes it started) once I pulled something that is in the left side of the crank and it started faster
Now, I moved the screw but the quad doesn´t turn on by itself, just the little generator , does it have to do something this thing that is in the below part of the left side of the crank? it looks like it opens something in the carb.
btw I twisted the screw like 4 times or so...

well I took the quad to someone that repairs them, it seemed the "black box" or CDI I believe was the problem, looks like it broke somehow while I was trying to turn it on, now it runs , what is the "regular" price for this black boxes because it cost me $45 I think it's too expensive what do you think?
