what did i do wrong? clutch install
#1
Hi there guys,
Please help. I installed a new cluctch on my son's china made atv 90cc. It starts off the ground but it seems the clutch or something does not disengage. In order for it to run you have to start it on blocks, accelerate, take it off the block and hope it doesn't stall...forget about coming to a stop. it stalls...i try to spin the tires or even push it and something is really tight...the tires are hard to spin
thanks

sounds to me you didn't adjust the clutch after everything was put back together or more than likely you purchased a clutch for a manual transmission instead of a clutch for the automatic tansmission.

well i just changed out to 3 clutch plates, otherwise everthing else is the same...i tried messing with the nut and screw on the side of the housing with no success.

this is 100% clutch problem, it could be nothing else. you need to remove the clutch again. on the back side remove the large snap ring, remove the first drive plate, then the 3 clutch discs, remove center gear, check center cam gear to make sure the two pieces move and are not locked up, they should rotate from each other appox 1/4-3/8 inch, then make sure all 4 springs are in place on the **** of the bottom drive plate, they should be standing up, reinstall center cam gear, now reinstall one clutch plate, this one should be 1/2 fiction material 1/2 drive plate, the friction material should be facing down towards the bottom drive plate, next install the friction plate that has friction material on both sides, next install the other 1/2 fricton and 1/2 drive plate, the drive plate should be facing down and the friction material facing up, now install the outer drive plate, theirs little ******* on this one and the ******* should be placed on the 4 springs, next reinstall the snap ring. reistall clutch back onto the atv, if you need pictures to help understand the assembly or any other questions you can e-mail me luvmysxs@yahoo.com
