Which chinese quad is the best?
I would just like to start off by saying that most if not all chinese units are fairly high maintanance. If you do not go over the unit and lock-tite as well as snug down all necessary bolts then you're in for some headaches.
I would personally choose a JCL unit. Mostly because they offer a 6 month parts warranty and they're usually pretty quick to get the parts out.
below is just my observation of chinese bikes in general because i've had a lot of experience with them.
Actually a lot of the newer chinese units are of much better quality than they have been in past couple of years. Most youth atvs come with an alarm system and a remote so the parent can remotely shutdown the unit from up to a claimed 100 yards. Although if the unit is left to sit for a week with no use and no battery charger, then the alarm unit will actually drain the battery down to nothing. Also, i wouldn't recommend using the battery charger that comes with a chinese unit. They never work right, it's usually best to ride the unit often or shell out the cash for a battery tender.
On the negative side, some companies still use rather cheap rubber bushings in their swing arms and shocks. The rubber tears and degrades after a short time of running the bike fairly hard and then the shocks and swingarm become loose. Fortunately aftermarket bushings can be had for a fair price. Also the electrical connectors, as mentioned in the posts above, are not weather proof. I have a youth atv myself that i just use to beat on and i've never had any problems with wet plugs causing electrical issues, but then again i never take the thing out in the mud so it dosn't take too much to clean it off.
