2003 lt 80
#1
First of all, I'd like to say Hi to all on this forum. This is my first post. I've been reading your forum for about a year now. Your information/knowledge on this site is incredible. Mr. LT80, I must take a bow to your knowledge especially !
Both my boys have LT80's. I've read many clutch upgrades on here, but would like to know one thing. Should I mod just the rear shoes, or should I just pull the two opposing rollers, or should I do both ? They are both stock motors, and we ride logging roads, hill climb and just general ripp'n it up. They are a 1999 and 2003. Both do go very well, but just looking for a little more snap from the start. Mechanically I'm fine as I worked on my motocross for years. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

well Im not jack but can say a little to help. I had alot more gains from only doing the rear shoes. I tried the roller removel and it did nothing. and the next time you need rings do the head cutting. you will be very happy. its not the race motor that jack builds but alot of fun. you can even do the head mod with out doing the rings. I think the guy by me charged me 25.00. well worth it!
my 2 cents. MR JACK its your turn.

Welcome to the forums and thank you.
Like Loren mentioned, the rear clutch shoe cutting is a must.
Removing 2 rollers is a personal thing. Some like it, some not.
Shaving the head .030 is a good thing.
Any questions, ask away. Lots of good ppl here to help.

I've ordered new rollers and side cover gasket. Parts will be here Wed. I'll cut the shoes down tonight and my son will be good to go.
Again, thankyou guys for all the help/info.

Well, I thought I'd give you an update. Pulled complete clutch apart and cleaned everything. All in good order. Cut rear shoes down to 180 grams each and put 6 new rollers in front clutch(without grease). My son just finished taking it for a rip. Much improved launch. His smile told the whole story.
Thanks again for the help.
