1990 honda pilot motor questions
#1
I just bought a 1990 Honda Pilot. I couldn't pass the deal up. The add said it had the 500 conversion kit and some other misc. items that sounded good. Since I had a 1990 pilot in early 95' I wanted another. Here are my questions.....
First. What fuel to oil ratio should I be running.
Second. How can I tell if it does indeed have the 500 conversion?
Here is a list of items on the bike.
1) Pro-design cool head
2) Paul Turner pipe with a stamp that says "pilot"
3) cylinder casting says "397cm" on side but has "FAS TECH" etched into the side of the cylinder.
4) aftermarket silencer that I cannot identify
5)PWK 72 RA3 LL carb that I cannot find ANY info on.
6) K & N air cleaner.
I can find info on the 72 RA4 LL but not on the "3" so I do not even know the size of the carb.
The reason I ask all these questions is when I had my 90 way back when I did not have the 500 kit and all I put on it was a pipe, clutch, larger carb and air cleaner. With just those few mods I could pull wheelies on dry pavement for days.
This machine smokes a lot and is very under powered for a stock 400. I plan on doing the most common like draining the fuel and starting over, cleaning the carb etc. But without the most common of info I don't even know proper jetting. I know this may seem like alot, however, any good info is a start. Thanks...
