You can.
ALTHO, I consider switching to the twist was a bad idea in the long run. It worked great for the daughter..being 13-15 yrs old and didn't have any problems. Till she went to big quads. I think (well I know but she argues with me about it LOL) she has taken soil samples cuz of the twist. She even wised up and went back to the thumb throttle.
When they get "whoopty" they grab the throttle....bing, bang, boom..tires up.
That's my expierience and my opinion. To each his own.

 

thanks for the advice its for my 7 year old son he has a bike aswell i thought it would be better to have the same as the bike for ease of riding thanks for your offer but i am in the uk. ps do you no if its possible to use a lt80 barrel on the 50 he wants more speed thanks dave

 

if it was a twist it wouldnt twist very far considering how short the stroke is in that little carb

 

The 50's and 80's are 2 completely different motors so no, cylinders and such will not interchange.
