Default LT50, compression questions. Not running. Please help.

2002 LT50. Im getting spark, TONS of fuel. THe compression is only 120. It wont start. I can pull the carb off, spray starting fluid in the intake and it will not start.

WHats the compression supposed to be before it fires. Its just under 120 now.

THanks for any help.

Welcome aboard.....120 should be fine! try new spark plug, than exhaust may be stopped up ! try to start with exhaust off! if its starts than inspect exhaust port and baffling for carbon and oil build up.....

Welcome to the forums.
I agree, the compression is fine.
Please explain why you say "TONS of fuel" please.

When i was reading online it seemed everyone was saying compression should be above 136 minimum. I removed the head and jug and it looks fine. NO scarring or anything. Can still see some crosshatch.

When i pulled the jug off fuel spilled out. The spark plug is wet also. Here is the WHOLE story.

I took the quad to the sand. Set the brakes, turned the choke on and pulled a few times. It started and i was blippin the throttle to keep the revs up and then it bogged down and died. I tried starting it over and over and wouldnt start. I then noticed a ROCK jammed in the exhaust tip... One of the little kids put a round rock in and it flipped up and jammed any exhaust... I pulled that out and still no start..

So, i get the rig home. tear off the plastics and i pulled the head and the jug. Long story on why i did that. I thought the piston wasnt moving, but i forgot to set the brake. lol. So, i replaced all the gaskets. put it back together, new spark plug. Torqued everything down. STILL no start... PUlled the plug and its getting good spark. I can unbolt the carb, sprak starter fluid in the intake and it wont start. Barelly get a tiny studder. There is 2 tubes that are coming off the carb that go no where. The bottom one i believe is just meant to hang down. Then there is a clear top one. Small one. Has no home. I think that is a vent also. not to sure. It just wont start. I have a sad sad kid at home without his quad...

ANy ideas what to try next. You say 120 compression is fine. Spark is present quite a bit. Not firing. Ideas? We are leaving for a trip today and it would be awesome if i could hav emy kids bike running... Thanks guys.

Prolly won't start w/o the carb...either(sp) or not.
FYI: WD40 is used for starting fluid on 2 strokes. Either is not recommended.
So the pipe still isn't plugged?
After the work you did, is the plug still wet? Maybe the bottom end is still wet.. Hold throttle wide open and turn motor over till it starts and cleans out. I think that would have been the original fix after you found the rock.
Anyways, If plug is dry now, try hand choking it.
So did ya slap the lil foo that put the rock in? LOL

Pipe isnt clogged anymore.

The petcock has three settings.. It has 2 PRI and 1 On. If i have it on on, no fuel comes out when the hoses are disconnected. When i have it on PRI thats facing the rear, no fuel comes out.. If i have it on PRI thats facing the front, it pours out.... Idk whats going on.

I think the plug is gettin wet because when i set it to pri.. im not sure... i just no i have spark and i KNOW i have compression... What is hand choking and yes i talked to the little brat that did it. ahaha

I got it running finally. My only issue now is that it loses all power in the top end. when you full throttle it, it will bog and want to die.. But if you slowly roll on the throttle its ok for a bit.. BUTTTT i also found the head gasket is NOT seating on one side so i think thats my issue.. Im gonna pull the head and reseal the headgasket again and i think my issues will be good to go.
