Default 2000 lt80 weak spark

Hello, my problem is I have weak spark...i.e. I can hold the spark plug between my fingers as it fires. If I hold the plug against the engine case, it will not jump the gap. I have been through these forums over and over, and checked a number of things...the stator I sanded and cleaned...it reads 180 ohms, and I have 30v to the cdi. The cdi is brand new. I have 16 ohms from the spark plug connector to negative terminal on coil. The plug is a new ngk. Compression is about 120 psi. Also , the engine ground is good. I am at a loss. I just picked this up for my 6 year old son, but thus far it remains idle. I suspect maybe the coil is bad...but really not sure...I am getting weak spark and the 16 ohms sounds about right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if this helps, but the resistance spade to spade on coil is 0 and the resistance from input spade to plug connector is 16 also. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forums.
I'm thinking CDI/coil.
Better ask Lynn Edwards.

Default Thanks

LT80 thanks for your reply and thanks for all your help to me and others through other posts over the years. I was thinking it may be the coil. The cdi is a brand new Suzuki part, so I am really hoping it is good. How might I contact Lynn Edwards?

I think Lynn may be a guy...
To be honest, I never gave it any thought that it could be a gal.
LMAO!

Spark issue solved. Aftermarket. Kill switch was not wired correctly and/or faulty. Picked up used original off eBay, spark is now good. Aftermarket kill switch had green/yellow wire from cdi to ground. Also, it is possible that red/black from stator to kill switch was grounded if switch was faulty.

Gree , might want to check brake switch. It will not start if circuit is not made.

The tether should have been:: There is usually a metal end, that wire to ground. Other wire to red/black wire under the hood.
Yup..The brake switch circiut needs to be made to start it. I was never interested in the safety aspect of the foot brake switch so I took them off and twisted the wires together.
