Eton Viper 90 shift motor

Trying to change the shift motor on my son's Eton 90. Can it be removed without taking the front cover off the transmission?

Thanks for the welcome. It's a 2005 rxl90
It has the electric motor to shift from reverse to forward.

Just wanted to update this thread, I was able to change the shift motor. It did require removal of the transmission cover. It was a relatively simple job once i found a diagram of the transmission .
