Lt80 clutch not disengageing
I am new here but need some help. Just bought a 1995 lt80 and it seems to want to take off as soon as you start it. it seems to idle really high but turning the screw on the carb does nothing. also when riding the quad the belt seems to slip constantly. what can I do to fix and where to I start.

Welcome to the forums.
I'd check the cable adjustment on top of the carb. Sounds like it's too tight thus holding the slide up.
You start by taking the clutch cover off (not the lil one) and maint. the clutchs. You'll find what's going on and we'll help.
You can read up too. You'll learn alot on LT80's in here.

just like jack said, check the actual adjustment on the throttle cable, but also, i've had issues with the rubber boot on top of the carb where the cable goes in slipped up and held the cable away from the adjustment screw and held the idle up high.
i always replace the cables now, ever since my son had the throttle stick on him when first learning and me and him hit a tree lol. thats the only issue with an automatic trans, throttle sticks and there is no clutch to disengage to save your A$$

I checked the throttle cable and the rubber boot was holding the cable up a little bit. I readjusted that and it fixed the idle problem. my belt looks fine. I did not pull the whole clutch cover off yet just the little one in the middle. but I felt the clutch faces or sheaves I guess they are called and they both have grooves in the outer edges. it this normal or do I need new clutches. it is in about the same spot on both front and back. I did just take my air hose and blow all of the dust out I could get and now it don't slip as bad but it takes off really slow. does not seem to grab real hard. any help will be appreciated.

got the clutch cover off and come to see there is rubber stuck on the sheeves not a groove. so I cleaned them up. pulled the front clutch and the rollers are flat on all of them. so I will be getting new ones. I have read to leave 2 of the rollers out. is this for low end power or top speed?

i only owned one tether switch, on a kick start blaster, was out in the middle of nowhere and couldnt restart the quad, i kicked and kicked and kicked, finally figured out the tether switch was bad so i had to do a trail fix to reconnect the ignition, ever since then i refuse to use them lol
