Have you set any safety "lock outs," on some bikes the brakes need to be on when starting. If you think these are OK, get a 12v test lamp and connect one lead to the starter motor "live" terminal and the other to earth, press the starter button, if the solenoid clicks but the lamp doesn't light, you have a faulty solenoid, if the lamp does light but the starter doesn't turn, you have a faulty starter motor.
