Yamaha Raptor 50 Starting Issues
Hey yall,
Im new to the forum but been lurking for a while. I have an issue with my kids quad. The engine will not turn over. I check the starter and it seems to be spinning fine. I took the crank case cover off to check if there is anything visually is wrong. All looked fine, so i hit the start and all the gears seem to be engaging but the engine will not crank. Im trying to save some money on fixing myself. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks James

If the starter and its' associated gears or chain spins but the flywheel doesn't, the one way clutch is slipping. This is behind the flywheel, so the flywheel has to come off. I'm not familiar with the 50 but the breeze flywheel ran "dry" (not in oil) and the one way clutch tended to get gummed up with dust, a good clean and it was working again.
