Default Looking to upgrade my daughter from a Predator 90 to a ????

Hello, and thanks for reading. Last year I got my kids (8 & 10) each a used Polaris predator 90 as their 1st quad. They were plenty peppy, but due to the vented stator, and the position of the air-box, they did not fare well in mud & water. They were also tough to start in cold weather. I recently upgraded my son to a Phoenix 200, which is still a little big for him. I am looking to upgrade my daughter as well, but she is definitely not ready for a Phoenix. The only 2 real requirements for the upgrade are a 4 stroke engine and reverse. I assume an Outlaw 90 is the logical choice. However, I am definitely looking to buy used, so are there any years to stay away from? When did they make significant changes to it? Also, I'm not married to Polaris, so what other 4 stroke youth quads have reverse? (I know can-am does, and i'm pretty sure the Honda and Yamaha don't). I'm looking to stay in the $1500 & under price range.

thanks,

Hacksaw_Dan

unfortunately in the name brands their is nothing for kids that have outgrown the 90's. Only option is put them on a machine that is to big for them and pray they never get hurt. Or switch to import brands that have machines ranging up to 150. Anything under the 150's use the same engine just chassis size is changed.

Thanks for the reply. My daughter hasn't outgrown the Predator 90, She just wants something that goes better thru the mud & water.

You may want to look into relocating or snorkeling the airbox.. I don't think any of the smaller machines have them in a good location

The 80cc Yam is shaft drive, so is probably going to be better in mud and water than those scooter engined two stroke Polaris 90s. Not sure if the 80 has reverse, the 125 Breeze/Grizzly does but it is chain drive. It was a fairly "soft" machine, so not much livelier than the Polaris. With air intakes for belt cooling and no water proofing on electrical connectors, most Kids quads are not well suited to water.

Thanks, but the mongoose has a vented stator just like the predator!
