Just purchased an lt 80 for my daughter. I noticed after she rode it for about 10 minutes and shut it off The cooling fan never would shut off. It ran for a good 20 minutes before I finally unhooked the battery. Is this normal?. Also do you have to have a battery to run the quad. I ordered a pull start to do away with the starter.
Jack will probably be on here later and he knows a lot more than me, but the fan is bolted to the flywheel, so stops when the engine stops. Your electric fan must be something a previous owner has fitted to the bike. You don't need a battery to run the LT80 but pull starts are fine when a bike is an "instant starter", not so good if a drop of water gets into the carb or compression is getting down. Keep the electric start and use the pull start as a back up.
I agree, the electric fan is a add on, and not needed unless they did something goofy with the air cowling. I'd think there would be a shut off switch somewhere.
FYI: the stock air cowling works fine. Not sure if it's there, but thought I'd mention that.
Ended up putting a top end in a the bike. Had low compression. Putting it back together and noticed a wire that goes to the 2 prong connector on coil is just hanging there. Black/red and a black/white wire. Where does the black/ white wire go
