I am need of assistance locating replacement brake shoes or brake shoe & Drum unit for a Redcat MPX70 Chinese ATV.
the brake pads unglued from the shoes.
The ID of the hub is 90mm
current shoe information (uninstalled)
Shoe width: 84mm
Shoe height: 80mm (without pads)
Shoe height: 85mm (with current pads that unglued)
I ordered the following 2 brake shoes from amazon but they did not fit. One was too small and the other too big
The drum seems to be 90mm and I would have thought 90mm shoes should be for 90mm drums. Compare them to the ones you have taken off and measure what dia they are when mounted on the backplate. Do they sit on the pivot pin correctly? Do they sit flat on the cam? Redcat and Kazuma seem to be branches of the same company, a fairly common make, so parts shouldn't be impossible to get.
when the pads are installed they expand and additional 5mm.
therefore the advertised 90mm is uninstalled. so now they are 95 mm and do not fit in the 90mm hub
Not a lot I can add. You could take the old shoes to a brake re-liner. Used to be lots of them, but cheap replacement shoes have nearly killed them off. There are still a few about, mostly fixing brakes for industrial machines and vintage cars, where you can't get off the shelf replacements. Or find a Redcat dealer, if they still exist, and see if they can help.
