Default Black cable from solenoid

I recently got a second hand kazuma meerkat quad. It wouldn't start! New battery and the solenoid just clicks. I followed the cable from it to check them, and discovered that the black cable is not attached to anything. I wonder if this why it is clicking?

Yes, lucky it wasn't touching the engine or frame as there would have been lots of sparks from it. It should go onto the starter motor live terminal.

thanks very much. Do you happen to know where the live terminal is on one of these little bikes?

You see that lump on the castings behind the white wiring plug in your pic? The starter is sticking out the other side of this lump, and somewhere on that starter is the binding post for that lead, The little brass thing in this picture https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192444495...Bk9SR4yRzsXYYA
