I have a 93-94 Thunder Kart (small, non suspended 1 wheel drive go kart) that has a briggs & stratton 5 horse motor on it and am looking for a little more oomph. I have a 11 horse briggs & stratton motor I can use off of a lawn mower. Would it work for my go-kart? The main reason I have doubts it would would work is because it because it has a vertical shaft. If it would work how would be the best way to bolt it to my frame?

You'd be better off building a whole new frame for the 11 horse. you would have to have some kind of differiential.

The 5 hp briggs you have right now actually has a very large aftermarket for it and you could modify the engine to get 11hp out of it!

11HP is overkill. my friend has a 5hp gokart with 1 wheel drive. it peels out too easily. with 11HP you would spend more time in one place burning up tires than going anywhere. with the vertical shaft, it would be kind of tricky to make it work, but it can be done.
