Which kids ATV for non-racers?
Posted this in a different category earlier.....I think this category fits better.....
Having 9 & 7 year old girls and a 4 year old boy and only one kids ATV - a Husky 50.......I am in the market for a new ATV or two. I've heard that the Kasea KS series ATV's have junky frames. Any suggestions as to what kids ATV is the most dependable, doesn't fall apart and isn't a total dog? Don't need them to race it - just riding trails and fields...up and down hills.
Any opinions regarding these kids ATV's (in 50 or 90cc)????
Kasea Skyhawks (is there a dif. between 2002 & 2003 models)
Dinli
Extreme
Eton Viper
Any suggestions/opinions/help is much appreciated. I am not a mechanic or an ATV expert....just a dad trying to let his kids have some fun.
Thanks!

we have a 87 suzuki Lt80 my daughter rides all the time, we bought it used but i have to say it was very well taken care of. we have a honda 90 that was not as easy for them to ride but it did fitt bigger kids well and i got a ds 90 it seemed like a good idea but just hasn't got much use.

The four manufactures you mentioned are good. You are right about the KS series. I am told them are not Kasea but a nock off of Kasea. Stay away from teh KS's . As for the others, Stock form these machines will last a long time. Don't forget about the Honda if you just want a reliable, always running play bike. They have stood the test of time.

The LT80 is hard to beat for easy riding, peppy throttle response, and reliability. I had an 87, it was badly abused, after a quick bore and piston, it ran like new, had enough power to haul my old butt around at a pretty good clip. Stock is a great trail ride, I made a quick clutch mod(removed some weights from the front clutch) and it will hill climb with the big boys. The belt drive, electric start and oil injection make it basically a gas and go set up. The Honda 90 is larger,so bigger kids will feel more at ease on it, and shifting is easy to learn, not all kids can use the pull starter, though(which may be good,so they don't ride without an adult around.)

I wouldnt recommend anything but an LT80. They use the unique air cooling ductwork, and as the Suzuki owner's wife told me " They are German Tanks". The nice thing is you dont need to do anything to them if you dont want, but everything is available also.Bubba

I purchased an '03 Polaris Sportsman 90 for our son last fall, and we love it. It has lots of travel, peppy engine, and is very easy to ride. The manual choke is located on the left side of the handlebar, and it has electric start with a kick start backup. It always starts immediately and has proven to be a safe reliable quad.

I agree that the top contenders are the LT80 and TRX90. Both are quality bikes and almost bullit proof. The Suzuki is better in dunes, smaller in size for smaller kids and has more mods available for racing. The Honda is much better on trails, especially in low end power. When we looked for a bike so my sons could trail ride with us riding on large 4x4's, the best choice was the Honda 90. We've not been disappointed - it goes everywhere we go.
