Default smoking cannibal

About the time cannondale went out of business I bought a brand new 2002 cannibal for $4,500, and only put about ten hours on it. It started smoking bad, cutting out and backfireing and finally wouldnt even run. My dealer found that the cylinder was ege shaped, so he put an after market cylinder, new piston and rings in it. When i got it back It ran good for about 5 hrs. started smoking bad and fouled two plugs. when the smoking occured it didnt really want to start either when cold. After burning the plug twice it smoked quite a bit and cleared up after a while, and now seems to run fine again. (there wasnt mixed gas in it) now it also starts fine.

could anyone please help me?

what is the color of the smoke? its seems that oil went inside cylinder and cause that smoke ( burn oil ) . do u make this updates :-

1- oil hose breather
2- stage 8 bolts

i recommend not use it to prevent a possible hydrolocking. make sure u make all the necessary updates. check the updates here http://www.cannondaleriders.com/tech/index.shtml

BTW... what is that aftermarket cylinder?

I wrote the original message,

it was blowing blue smoke (oil smoke). A couple drips of oil came out of the pipe. It cleared up after a while and now its running good.

HMM you seem to have hit the famous hydro lock. The check ball for the oil line seems to stick after setting for a while and all the oil drains from the spars into the motor. Seems you caught it before it filled your cylender and locked up your piston. It usally doesn't do damage you just will have alot of smoke for a little bit. Check your filter regualry and see if you are getting excessive amounts of metal floating around, sometimes it will stick in that check ball and keep it open.

Check out cannondaleriders for some more detailed info on the subject!
