Count them ppl ..... 3 rattle snakes, 2 on the same day, poor things didn't even know what hit them. Countless flies and roaches (I don't kill spiders, they eat bugs. Besides I was once bitten by a black widow and I feel closer to a species that nearly killed me!)
I've also taken out plenty of stock banshees and ever single predator thats crossed my way.
What!!

Raptoreater, one thing you can do to really help out the quad is use the paper oil filters ,synthetic oil, evans waterless coolant(for the valve cover corosion),and glue some magnets inside the scavange sump. I strongly recomend replacing the crank rod bearing with a Suzuki z400 bearing. The stock bearing wears into the rod journal until it ruins the rod and siezes the crank . Its about $115 to replace which I can do for you if you dont have a local crank builder. Keep all wiring from chafing, clean grounds and tighten . Stick to factory maps.
Chassis wise they are as good as it gets. Just do regular bolt checks. Make sure you have a solid swingarm pivot bolt not the hollow one. If you do a lot of extreme jumping I recomend getting higher grade rear shock bolts. Some factory ones were El Cheapo.

My dad and I were able to pick up an 02 Speed with full set of paddles & dirt tires for $2800, but I get nervous everytime we go riding even though I meticulously maintain it. $115 is a very good price for that job...dealers here in Vegas want $60 in labor for an oil change...

Working on the quads is prety straight forward. You can pull the engine in about 1 to 2 hours. They use a lot of o rings which must be kept track of but once you see how they are built you will realize how much easier it is to work on them as opposed to the traditional split case engines. You dont even have to pull the tranny. The only special tool needed for complete engine dissasembly is a flywheel puller which your local stihl chainsaw dealer can pop it off for you if you dont want to spend $20 for one. Engine manuals are free to download from Dale web sites or I can send you a disc. The Dale/ATK family of owners is a great crowd and any of us will help out in any way we can so if you need help, parts or advice go to Cannondaler or Cannondaleriders and do a search on the forums.

Crank pins are hollow and are acting like centrifical filters. They tend to build up sludge from the microscopic material floating in the oil that the filters cant catch. Consistant oil changes and paper filter seem to be the best way to prevent the buildup. Thats why I recomend sump magnets. They catch all mettalic material no matter what size.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Whats a video worth then.. I don't want to hear any crying. I raced what was there on my bro's Yoshi 450Z and then my ATK450.. See for yourself.. I was the heaviest.. A video doesn't lie.. The ATK beats the Yoshi 450 pretty easily.........The last five vids on this page.
