First disconnect the plug to the stator. Check for continuity between all 3 terminals of the wires going to the stator.. They should all have low resistance between each other. Then connect connect one lead of your ohm meter to a good ground and test all 3 terminals of the same plug you just tested . There should be infinite or extremely high resistance. If the stator is grounded you will need to pull the flywheel and check the wires for a short to ground on that small retainer that the wires go through under the left side of the flywheel. It might have worn through the wires and shorted out the stator. Its very common and the update is to repair the wires and put a little extra wrap around them. let me know what you find and we will go from there.

finally got my chance to look at it, the continuity was good between all pins no matter what way i put them on the meter, also when i checked for a short to ground and tried each of the three pins to the engine and neg battery terminal just to be sure and all were OL out of limits. so that seems to be good what else could it be??
i also noticed on the right side of the quad on the frame under the fender by where that connector was i saw to holes in the frame like something was supposed to be bolted there? any idea what is supposed to be there if anything, if you need i can take a picture, thanks
