Default Weight, 'dale vs Yamaha

Cannondale's listed dry weight is 375 lbs, Yamaha YFZ450 is 350 lbs, where does the extra weight come from?
Is the 'dales aluminum frame that much heavier?
Thanks,

The frames, axles and swingarms are stronger then the YFZ. This takes more material. EFI has more internal things so more weight for that also. The YFZ weight is exaggerated by Yamaha for advertiseing.. It does use aluminum upper A arms and will break in mx use. The Moto is the only true race ready quad ever built to this day, sorry Suzuki. Slap on some numbers and go race in the pro class.

The bro is shipping a fully gusseted YFZ frame w/ JRD subframe this week. I am shipping a Dale frame w subframe. We have to weigh them for shipping quotes. The JRD sub is chromemoly I believe.. On my scale the Dale frame and sub came to like 42lbs. I need to get it on the scale a little better I think..

Have you had the chance to weigh the YFZ?

My reasons for asking is that I have it in my mind to put a CR500 motor in a 'dale frame or possibly build a cromealloy frame from scratch.
I have heard stories though that bike motors will crack frames.

The Dale frame w/ engine crade is 40lbs and another 5 for the subframe. The JRD gussetted YFZ frame is 42lbs. The JRD subframe was over 10lbs but it's chromly.

I'm not sure how heavy the gussets were on the YFZ but at any rate it is 2lbs heavier then the Dale .

A YFZ motor is around 67, but I need to double check that. A Dale motor is 72, but I need to double check that also..
