Oh Geeezzz! You guys actually believe half of what you spout about the 250R. They are not going away. If anything with the introduction of the powervalve and the large amount of chassis mods being offered for the Honda 250R it will never go away. I find it vary hard to believe that a Cannondale or any other ATV will ever beat the all around and complete race package the 250R has to offer. You guys have yet to offer a reasonable answer to the question many including myself have asked many times before... "If the 250R is such a dinosaur then why do they still dominate almost every race circuit known to man?"

I will always be a two stroke man!...

If I were to make an analogy the best I could come up with is a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke is kind of like a GP500 bike vs a Harley. or a Formula 1 car vs a Mustang.

You guys read the new article on the powervalve banshee 400cc? IT smoked everything!!

Jamison you are 14, how the hell do you have an $8000 quad? I have been saving for a long time and will probably get a Cannible or used FX400 around Christmas. I just can't believe that you would have a quad most adults can't afford.

cctman, your analogy my have been true in the past but since you used it I would have to point out that GP's and F1 are top of the food chain when it comes to technology as I sure you know.
But GP 2-stroke technology has hit the wall, and they're dead, I know people don't want to except that, and I don't mean dead as in they still don't have life on the level of atv's but atv's are bottom when it comes to techno-trickle down effect. GP's are going to 4-stroke F1 type engines that can rev out of this world and produce mega hp. In the past 10 years 4-stroke Superbikes have crept closer and closer to GP bikes and thats a bike that gives away 100lbs. and just "old" 4-stroke technology not F1 type. This is not a bash against 2-strokes it's just the case of what was and what will be.

If the 2-strokes aren't slowly going away, then why is it that many PRO GNC racers are switching to 4-strokes.The tech. of 4-stoke engines can now compete and alot of times beat the 2-strokes. I know it has more to do with the rider, but why are alot switching. In other words why mess with something when its working. From what I understand Shane Hitt will be racing a 4-stroke next year. Also I seen a tricked out 4-stroke that Joe Byrd has had built, but dont know which class he will run it in. I stongly think that in a couple of years most of the pros will be riding 4-strokes. The question isnt when and who will build a 2-stroke,the question is when and who will build a 4-stroke that will compete with the Moto 440!

EXACTLY! 4-strokes are slowly takin over racing! but those are custom built bikes and the R isn't! And some cost $20,000 to build! I would NEVER build a quad like that unless I was pro. My point is, WHEN is someone gonna make a 250 2-stroke, a 450 liquid 4-stroke thats lightweight, or a MX ready quad for under $8000!!! I would buy anyone of those quads! I guess time will tell, and MY R will live on!

Why not just stick with the 250R? It is the best MX quad there is and ever has been, unless you want to spend $20,000 plus on a 4 stroke.

The reason some pros are switching to 4strokes is beacuse they are like lots of you here. "Its the way thinga are going." Give me a break! they way things are going is the way you determine they go. No one is going to implement any kind of standard that will eliminate 2strokes. The 2stroke design is the most effecient design available. Lighter, easy to wrok on, produce much more HP per CC and fire on every stroke. I don't give a damn about some bureaucratical fallacy shouted to gain a sympathetic image. We as ATVers/off roaders contribute a literal drop in the ocean to the worlds overall pollution, its all a lie to gain votes and you morons are swollowing it whole spouting the greatness of having a "clean burning engine with usuable power." The 2stroke is NOT a dinosaur. Light, nimble screamer. Slower, heavier, grunts, which sounds like a dinosaur?
