Corndog,

Thanks for the information on my responses to your perceived problems, (go look up perceived in a dictionary). I’ll make it easy for you here’s a list.

1. Think before you type. Calling me a dick won’t get you anywhere. I don’t care what 15 year olds think of me. See #9.
2. Stop whining that you are getting screwed. You bought a used bike.
3. You claim a broken frame rail. Still no pictures.
4. You bash everyone’s ride. Nobody had bashed yours.
5. Stop telling everyone about your problems with Cannondale. You don’t have one they fixed a second owner bike, out of warranty.
6. You think but don’t know of any REAL problems with the 500 ECU that haven't been addressed.
7. You ride in your backyard. How fast do you need to be to beat your dog?
8. You want better shocks. How much better do you need for your three foot jumps?
9. Your 15 and your life’s experiences don’t add up to others here.

I don’t make it a habit of calling people dicks and I have stated that in America, you can say what you want; I’ll just start ignoring you.

Corndog- I wasn't going to reply to anymore of your stupid remarks but since you just lied about something I said, I'm gonna have to. WHEN IN THE HELL DID I EVER SAY I HAD A 500 COMPUTER????????? I've known that I had a 1000 since the 3rd day I had it (I took all my plastics off to change my fouled plug) and I noticed the computer w/ the words EC 1000 on it. So when you say that I thought I had a 500, you are just a lying little sack of **** that is only TRYING to make me look like I don't know anything. Well try again you little @ss wipe.

Sorry to everyone else for getting so p!ssed off. I just hate it when someone try's to make me look bad.

Smitty, thanks for your opinion. Unlike Corndog I appreciate others perspectives. I'm no expert on selling used vehicles I just know how I am as a buyer. If the going rate for a used Cannibal was 5k I would be willing to spend that on one with Ohlins and EC1000 and work down from there. At this point none of this is all that relevant anyway because there are so few of them out there anyway.

I still say had I known there was going to be an updated swingarm a month after I bought mine I would have either waited or could have negotiated a better deal.

Jay,

No problem. I respect your point, I also don't have the upgraded swing arm. When I travel the 2 1/2 feet off the ground I won't be worried about it either. If it breaks, or cracks maybe that means I've overcome my fear of hieghts. LOL.

We are lucky though, when I sold boats (Wellcraft / Scrabs) they would often times come out with a bitchen boat the first year and downgrade (make the customer pay) for extras. Guage package, SS prop, Trim Items, bigger motors. This would allow them to still offer the boat at the same price just less standard options. Sometimes in sales you sell what you have when you have it. If I told everyone to WAIT, there may be a upgrade next month, next year or whenever, we wouldn't have sold the boats we had on the lot. I got paid to move the unit at the dealershop. If someone wanted to order one I did that as well, just got paid later, 2-4 months later.

We don't know what the situation is at Cannondale, I don't think it any of our business why they changed things, IMHO. I have a great bike, I'm happy with what I have, I knew going into it about the swingarm.

My thoughts only.

One comment about the computers being upgraded. Normally companies are only obligated to provide the customers with upgrades when their product has been found defective. Improvements are expected from companys if they expect to remain competitive in the market. I bought a 1999 Silverado only to find out two months later that GM got an extra 15 hp. out of the same engine. I called their customer technical service and they would tell me anything about the change and how I could make the modification to achieve it. Anyway, Canondale couldn't afford to send everyone a new computer.........unless it was broke and the had to due to a safety recall. That's why I waited and bought a 2002 Raptor to avoid the problems witht the 2001's.

And as far as Corndog goes, maybe when his ********* drop he won't be so uptight and annoying!!

Geez GregV, much like buying a Raptor, I bet you feel pretty ripped off with your Silverado. Could you do us all a favor and spare us the whining you're going to do about the fact that Polaris came out with their 700 Scrambler after you wasted money on their 500 Scrambler.

Your Raptor is a good point, they waited until the next model year to make chamges and fix problems, they did not do it during the model year. You talk about Cannondale could not afford to swap out all the old computers, why not, we are only talking a few hundred units. What did Yamaha do with all those weak 2001 axles? I'm sure they planned to have only enough of those axles available to fill out the rest of the 2001 model builds. That's the point I was making with Cannondale, it's a good thing bad thing situation. You could be buying a quad one week and the next week, your dealer could be receiving in ones that have alot more upgrades that yours did not have and to top it off, your dealer did not inform you of these changes that were going to occur.

Oh no.......CornDog is back and he is going by Stecate925!!!!!!!!!!!! Beware his ramblings!!!!!!!

Yea I guess your right if they only sold 300 units like that. It shouldn't break their bank to have happy and hopefully RETURN customers.

I do remember that Knowsalot said he had a bike up to #700 with the 1000 and #800 frame with a 500 in in. If you GUESS that the cost of a ECU is around $350 that's only $105,000. If you say that there where probably close to 600 frames with the 500, than it's closer to $210,00. If I was running the company I wouldn't just give away that much money, the stock holders would kill me. There is no VALID reason that the 500ECU needs to be replaced anyway.

Just my thoughts.
