Just ordered my new speed and a honda 250Ex for the woman and I have a few questions. my Speed has separate oil for engine and trans. Is mobile one full synthetic safe for the engine and a traditional 4 stroke motorcycle for the clutch and trans? I only weigh 140 lbs so can anyone give me some baseline tips for suspension setup? 90 percent trail riding and 10 percent MX track with some moderate jumps. Thanks cant wait to get out and rip. Anyone in the twin cities want to go sometime? I got lucky the 2 place trailer squeezes through the garage door by 1.5 inches thats only3/4 on each side. close one.

I was told that Cannondale uses Maxima fully synthetic oil. But I'm going to use the Mobil 1 15w 50. I think it's 85w oil in the tranny. Check the manual when you get it....or go online and check it.

The Ohlins shocks comes with a good manual. It's also available online. It'll tell you how to properly setup the shocks.

Allright, another Cannondale quad owner, congrats man!!! I love the looks of the Speed, especially that gripper seat. I run a full synthetic 10W40 oil, Castrol for the engine crank case. For the transmission I run Honda's HP 80/85W oil. Just make sure you read your owners manual thoroughly before you ride. Make sure you follow the breakin procedure and change that oil after the first hour and then change it often after that. On Cannondale's web site there is a document you can download that details the shock setup for the C'dales.

How good of a deal did you get on the Speed?

I only got 50 bucks off the Speed because of supply and demand with the Cannondales. I got enough of a deal on the trailer (a really nice 2 place all aluminum trailer) and the Honda to make up for it. I would download the manual now but with a dialup connection it takes a bit of time to download 60 MB off the site. The shock manual on cannondale.com says to set the sag of the springs according to the specs below based on your weight. Only problem was there was no specs below. Oh well I wil figure it out. THanks for the oil tips. keep em coming if you have any more.

I don't know how much you have been following all our threads here but one thing we discussed is some of the older Cannondale's have reuseable screen oil filters for the crank case oil, mine does for instance. I believe all the newer quads now come with a disposable paper filter which costs like 10 bucks from your dealer and I believe currently that is the only place you can get them. If you can, I would try and order one of the metal reuseable filters like mine, it will save you alot of money in the long run because you should change the oil in these quads on a regular basis. Cannondale may have a limited number of these screen type filters available, when they are gone, I doubt if there will be any more built. I'm sure they went with these paper filters to save money. I believe the part number for the screen filter is 592-5001107.

Me too, my order got put in yesterday...hope I have it by next weekend. How did you justify the speed over the cannibal, I had a hell of a time (took me like two weeks to decide). I had originally put money down of the cannibal but wasn't really excited cuz I really wanted the speed, so I went back and told them to order me a speed! What was your total after taxes, setup, shipping, and the bike? I got mine for $8300 with a lot of haggling, but supposed mine includes setup, I have never heard of a dealer doing this but it will be great to pick it up and head straight for the trails.
