I didn't feel like starting another post so I'll ask in this one. I want to get the price of everything I need added up so I can get a quote from my dealer on what my payments will likely be. What tire/wheel combo are you MX guys running? I was planning on 18" grooved turf tamers or the Holeshot MX tires. I want one that will last awhile, as I won't likely have money to buy tires every month. Everyone talks about the wheels being the "weak link" on the Cannondale's, what wheel do you recommend. Don't include the Carbon FIber ones, WAYYYYY too much money for me. Graydon Pro-line or AC for nerfs? By the way, what are "pro-pegs"? Sorry for all the questions, I've been waiting for 2 years for this to happen, so I'm very excited!

You can't beat Turfs for the money.
If your going to get a new one, I'd have reinforcement rings welded in the stock wheels. The rings cost about $30 a piece. Also, if your just starting out racing, the stock tires are Holeshots and will do just fine for you to start out. Once you get some more money and experience, then look into different tires. But I would have the rings welded in.

I like the look of the AC's. My Pro Pegs will be here next week, so I'll post a pic of it all together. they have footpegs built into the nerfs. They're alittle bit wider than the stock peg. People have been saying the peg's teeth round off, but I haven't had any trouble in the past. Just file them ever now and then if you really want to, to keep them sharp.

I'd recommend having them put the number plates off the Moto on it and order a Pro-design tether switch. The front plate will give your radiator a little protection.

So all and all, I'd order some wheel rings, tether kill switch, nerfs, and number plates. Any race shop can get the rings welded on for you. That should get you started!

I thought you had to buy a Moto kill switch, because the Pro Design is not compatible with the C-Dale circuitry. the reason I want 18's is because I want a good MX tire, and whenever I'm not racing the stockers will suit me just fine. I also want to get as much stuff at the initial purchase that I can, because as I stated before, I doubt I'll be able to afford my payments/gas/gate fee's AND MODS, so I'm planning ahead. Oh, could I go to a machine shop with a CNC machine and have them build some rings of my own design?

I would sugest getting the 18" tamers and defantaly get renforsment rings for whatever rim you get.I have douglas 190 redlable 8" rims
on the rear with no rings and I cant run no less than 7 pound of air presure. If I do they get all beat up.Same with the stockers. Also get groved radials for the front with offset rims. They will last forever.
Thats the combo I run and its a night and day diference in handling.
Most the tracks down here are hard pack with very little loam.
They were close to $450 dollars for rim and tire combo.

Get nerf bars,and kill switch.

To realy get good handling you could go for a plus 4 axel, stearing dampener, slip on pipe and moto remap.I know money is tight you could do very well without these items, but they sure would be nice to have.

I have a loanstar plus 4 on order.Next I will probley get a stearing dampener when I can save the extra money.I still dont have nerfs or a killswitch. They dont enforce that down here.

I haven't been to the track in along time, but most of the area is loamy, so I doubt grooved radials will do any good. I've got so many idea's going through my head right now, it's not even funny, but heres my planned mods
Pro-Peg nerfs
Kill Switch
18" grooved turf tamers
some kinda different rear wheel, with all 4 having reinforcement rings
HMF w/Moto map
Possibly a steering damper if the budget will allow. Do these things really help? I tend to overcorrect my ATC sometimes, would the damper help control that?
After that, a +4 axle will be in order when I have the cash. Hopefully prices will be dropping so I can actually afford one!
I think I'll do pretty good with that set-up. I was "play racing" someone on a 400EX and LT250R, and still went faster around our little track(with small jumps though) so I feel even more confident when I'll be on 4 wheels, and in the novice class! I'm just going to be pissed if the owner decides to close it again, otherwise it's something like 200 miles to the second closest track

The mx hole shot fronts will probley do well in loam. They seam to wear out realy down here.

A stearing dampener will defantly help out in bump stear and save you some arm pump.

Holeshots are pieces. Get maxxis razr's, I would get beadlocks with your 18's, my friend rolled his tire off the bead when he was racing and i swear by neadlocks, tire wont be going anywear.

OK, so here's my for sure list of things to get when I first buy it

18" Grooved TT with beadlock rims
AC Pro-Peg Nerfs
Kill Switch
HMF w/moto remap
Reinforcement rings(I don't know if they're needed for the rear with bead-locks, but they will look good)

Do you guys think i'll NEED anything else for MX? Depending on how much money I save between now and Fall, I may also get the W.E.R Steering Damper.

Just a thought but do you have Quickens Software they have a financial calcultor with it. I would pay cash for the small stuff and just finance the bike. Intrest rates an toys even with good credit is running 12+ apr. Finance as little as possible.

Pay cash for Nerfs, kill switch, and beadlocks you won't need the reinforcing rings.

Use the rest for downpayment.
