First time to a track
#1
Well it was bound to happen. I went to Compition park in Hemet, Ca. today. They have 4 tracks, flat track with a supercross in the middle, pee-wee track, Large and long one, track that is very well suited to quads.
For warm up it was the flat track. Interesting but no big deal.
Supercross was next and the turns where small the jumps rough and small 2-strokes kept going buy me. It made me nervous to either ride behind the slower smaller riders and always looking bake to see who was coming next.
Off the the large track with all of the big dogs. After maybe half a lap I ran into a turn with lots of slippery mud, they had just groomed and watered. Over the berm I go, I got pitched off to the right and thought the quad was going to roll over on me. Thank god my right leg stopped it. The quad stayed on all fours, while I did a couple of rolls. It hurt now it's going to hurt more in the morning. I let the big dogs be, they where doing the doubles and triples.
Off to the last track. Saw some guy with a Quadzilla ripping around getting good air, I thought that if he can, I can. What a great track, not all torn up, plenty of room for mistakes. 95% of the jumps where table tops, Safe for the old guy. The back side had three tables in a row, first one about 15' across, I was landing towards the end of the day about 12'. The last one was my favorite, I had to be going further but no witnesses.
My bud bought his DS650 and he had a blast as well. He had the forsight to bring a vedio camera. So we got some stills and a couple of jumps. They will be posted when he gets a second.
Sorry for being long winded, it's my nature.

Smitty,
Welcome to MX! I started riding MX last year and just had my first MX race today, came in 3rd...not too bad for first race. It's a good day if you and your quad come home in one piece! My race today was terrible track conditions, mud puddles in front of most of the doubles and tabletops...most puddles about a foot deep...grooming was not the best, but it is break up here in Alaska. Look forward to more info on your experiences........JIM

It will get better Smitty.
Actually, that sounds like one of my first race experiences. Except that it was on a three wheeler. Boy...I wish they made quads back then, and I wouldn't have half as many scars as I do now.

Well at the track on Sat. nights they race under the lights.
For all the married guys
Is taking the wife to the track a date?
I had a blast, although it wasn't a race, I plan on trying a couple just cause.

I'm not married but.. Yes, it qualifies. Quality time spent together is a treasurable event.
