Round Type Silencer Break in question
#1
Okay,
I've got the round type silencer with only about 10 hours on the machine. I've noticed a pronounced discoloration in the middle of the silencer. The middle third of the silencer has turned a rainbow blue/red, while the front and back thirds have remained bright silver. It's definitely a heat discoloration.
On the inside edge where the silencer is seamed, there's a little bit of black carbon residue that's seeping from the seam. It's not drastic but you can see it.
The bike doesn't seem quite as fast as when I first got it, but that might just be because I'm over the initial shock of how quick it is and I'm getting used to the acceleration. Definitely not a scientific assessment.
Have your silencers discolored in this manner, and does that sound like a split seam or just normal leakage when the muffler is seamed?

I have heard that the discoloration is normal, not sure if it is or if the whole pipe should do it?
As far as carbon build up you might want to purge the carbon out of the pipe (tells you how in the manual under the silencer section)
To find out if it is split, someone else on the forum said to splash some water on it like you would a tire with a hole in it. Do this right when you start it up as it will obviously evaporate if the pipe is scorching hot. This same person said you also might not be able to tell right away if the pipe is split.
Not sure if this helped, keep us updated.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I was told that the injector offset needs to be done to get rid of the rich condition.
I only have about 10 hours on my bike, so I think it's time for the FMF and moto/blaze map. That will get rid of the blueing and alittle more power.
