I am thinking about getting new front shocks. and getting aftermarket a-arms later. Are Custom axis shocks worth the $1300 for them. How are elkas compared to Custom Axis they are $900. thanks

In my opinion, PEP ZPS's are the best shock's available and are considerably cheaper than Axis. The only drawback to PEP, there is a 12 week lead time with the ZPS's!! I do think Elka's are a decent shock for the money. You'll spend around $1400 for the top of the line Elka's and $1800 for the PEP/ZPS's.

Mxracer,
I just got my Elka's on Monday and installed them last night. I have never used Pep or Axis but compaired to the stock shocks on my Speed or even my friend's Blaze the Elka's were well worth the money. Once I got them set up they feel great. I am going to play with them more tomorrow to get them dialed in for a Harescramble this weekend and that will be the real test.

I just put front Elka shocks(pronounced El-Kay) on my 400ex and love 'em! A place called The quad shop atv . com on the internet sold 'em for $770 with remote rezzies. If you are getting quotes of over $1000, forget it, you are paying way too much. The shocks took 2 weeks to be delivered. keep in mind if you get shocks now, then get a-arms later, if you get extended a-arms your shocks now wont fit and will cost darn near as much as a new pair to get 'em adjusted correctly. consult the quad shop for the details on that one. 502-243-0193. one more thing, I didn't find a need for a new back shock. The honda stock back shock is really a good shock. Learn to play with the adjustments and you will find the ride comfort you are looking for and save big $$! Fronts are a major difference though.
