Alaks yfm- you want to explain how those engines work. I Couldnt get anything out of those articles. The first one sounded like a rotary engine, the second was weird, it sounded like a two-stroke cause two-strokes compressions change with rpm.

You guys are forgetting about throttle response. This is a big factor coming of corners.I have run a couple hare scambles with the cbl and I have to agree that it is very hard use in the tight stuff not as bad as a Banshee but close. You have to remember in the tight stuff you have to keep the front end downor you will hit a tree. This is why the 400ex is winning the production class at the GNCC.The guys at cannondale know this and are going to fix the situation. This is also a problem for a beginer.People have walked away from a sale because they thought the cannible was to much to handle motorwise.

Dont tell me that Cannondale is going to detune their engines because of that?!!!?!?!?!? But I thought that cannondale built a mx quad for experienced riders. It says on the stickers on the quads.

I didnt say all of the cannondales probably just the cannible and blaze.Maybe they wont detune maybe they will add stroke to some motors making the low end more controlable.Who knows they have the rd and engineers they will figure it out.I do know that sometimes to be fast you have to go slow. The race isnt won till the flag flies etc.

I agree that the Cannondales are just over the line when it comes to running them in the tight stuff, but like a Banshee, it's not a problem once you get accustom to it. It still requires that extra effort though, and in long races, that adds up.

Nothing that a simple flywheel weight wont take care of. And if the consumer would rather have the revs, he could remove it within 20 minutes.

Stealhy is working on two different weights for the bikes and the quads, and soon as one becomes available, I'm nabbing one. Have any of you ridden a WR426 vs the YZ426??? The weight makes for a very tractable ride that is not quite as explosive, but widens the spread of power.

Just my thoughts on what would be an easy fix to satisfy all consumers.

mx98- the ds has no bottom end. We do a lot of drag racing at my house. All the quads (all makes) have gotten so fast (very modded) the start will sometimes win the race. Every quad requires its own launch technique. The Ds quys rev the **** out of them on the line. I generally have to walk mine out of the hole the first 30 feet. Fine line between too much wheel spin/not enough. All of this drag racing has paid off. Went to the mx track the last two weeks with 2 other draggers. We were waiting on the field at the first corner. I need to work on tackling those bumps they put in the middle of the road now.

this discussion about horsepower v torque v rpm is not unique to quads only. there is an ongoing talk about this same topic in various auto forums, rather heated I might add. An example: Which car is "better" performance car, an 5.7L V8 405 HP Chevy Vett with lots of low end torque or 2.oL I-4 240HP Honda S2000 with very little low end torque but revs out to 9000 RPM? I personally prefer the honda because I enjoy the screaming high reving quick shifting cars. It reminds me of riding the Cannondale.
