I was pondering buying a moto 440. I have a few questions. Is the 39 claimed horsepower rear wheel or at the crank? What can you do to get more if any? I am running against 50 horsepower bikes (rear wheel) and would need more than what a stock moto puts out. Is there HP to be found in the heads or exhaust? For the same price, I think I could build a suzuki with more horses, axis shocks, roll front end, and so on. Does anyone more about the moto horsepower gains or is it maxed out to begin with?

I to could use more power in the local races since they are always open classes especially on the oval tracks programing does give some gains and all the big aftermarket guys are working on the quads heck most of them are dealers now.It will only be a matter of time and it wouldnt suprise me to see cannondale offer a open class quad.Maybe that Glamis?either way its not like the heavily mod quads are totally blowing me away plus these guys have close to twenty grand stuck in the quads.

Chris, the 39 HP you hear about is a fairly conservative number from what we've heard. Don't tell me you''re going to follow in Johnny's footsteps and dump the R!! Say it ain't soooooo!!!!! Next time you go to Sunset let me know, I'll bring my Cannibal which has the moto map and aftermarket silencer and let you ride it around a little.

Dynojet numbers (which is what most people quote) are 44+ at the rear tires from what I hear...

39hp is a Superflow number.

My MSO for may Cannibal states 40 SAE HP - which I believe is CS HP. Dynojet numbers around 37 RWHP are typical for a stock Cannibal.

The Cannibal does 33 Superflow HP according to Cannondale.

Anyone know what the MSO for a Moto says?

Brian, I am going to race at Extremeworld this friday. You guys oughta come out. I would like to ride that cannondale and see what it has. Email me at cbeyer@nordam.com and let me know. The thing that scares me is at Texas this past weekend, I got beat by a moto to the first corner, but my bike (250R) has a bone stock cylinder on it. He only beat me by a couple of bike lengths the first moto and then the 2nd moto I beat him. He may of had a bad start, or shifted improperly, but I was hoping he would BLOW me away. I know Nate's dale is fast, but he is also a really good rider and it probably is modified more than a stock one. As far as the 250R, I do not know what I am going to do.

I was at Trinity yesterday checking up on my Quad. Harry had a Cannibal with his Stage 4 pipe on the DYNO. I had to ask, he said aout 45RWHP.

A Moto would have about the same, with a little this and a little that whalla 50 RWHP.

There is more HP in these motors and I'm going to get it.

Smitty- what brand of dyno? Depending on the dyno, those might be GOOD numbers. I have come to the conclusion that there are not alot of 60 hp machines out there. Not even a whole lot of 50hp machines.

Beyer05 - Where you from? Do you race at any of the East Texas tracks (DFW area, or around Greenville... Badlands, Caddo, Weatherford)? I was at Badlands just last night for practice and HOPEFULLY I'll be there this weekend on Saturday night. I've been up against a lot of high HP quads (or atleast they had more than me) and I was still able to out run them. 39 RWHP is what I usually hear for the Cannibal and the moto has more than that. W/ mappin and pipe, I would guess 86atc250R was probably right sayin the moto has 44 RWHP.

14min. - me and a friend of mine on a 440ex are goin to Aledo on the 29th and I need directions. PM me. My friend on the 440 is wanting to take a run on the dyno (incase you need to know or somethin). Lookin forward to seein all yall out there. Later

I am from Broken Arrow (Tulsa) Oklahoma. I have been to Badlands with Johnny a few times. I have also raced TQRA's at Hooks (Texarkana) and last weekend at Village creek (Fort Worth). I have also been to Caddo point. I want a 4-stroke, I just don't know what yet.
