kp the owner of ez-ride is going to look at a track in wiggins mississippi that my boys and i go to to play around. the lady wants to lease it and it has a lot of potential. kip wants to run 7 or 8 quad classes starting with 50 cc. no one else around here is smart enough to run kids quad classes. how many little kids you see pit riding small quads at the races. my 8 year old rides a e-ton 90. i just bought me a warrior last week and added douglas 190's and ac nerfs. its gonna need a ring job soon and then comes the 10.25 wiseco and an all around can. i'm getting old but i still like to ride like hell. thats where my boy learned from, 2 speeds stop and haul ***,no in between. ive had it with holeshot too. shes burrying herself so be it. later

14mins always the exception of the rule, lol. Must come from being self employed. Atleast I know one place where the dirt bikers have felt what we have felt.
Markvette,
I like to see a track come up with the graet idea of youth atv classes. I realy believe if we start maturely aproaching this we have a few tracks and the possible addition of this new track that would be more than happy to start something different to are area.
When doug Morris has emailed me he had stated that actions like what the couple track owners banning us was actually good for us. He said they worried about it at first when up in southwick mass quads were getting banned from all the tracks. Then they started quad only race nights and the first couple where just ok, then he says they just started coming from no wheres, every week atendence grew and grew. At this point they now have a series in that area and the average atendence is 250 quads. Then he went on to say they tried the same at other larger core areas and thus far it has been very successfull with numbers breaking 100 in attendence at all but the latest one they are starting. He says the latest one is to early to give a average attendence, but they have 75 quads showing up so far. huh, lets see if lyann would snub her nose at that money.
If a track is rented and a quad racing by it's self or in co-existence with bikes needs any help doug has stated that the atva will give full cooperation in any way.
But on a different note, there is so many quads in our area. I noticed on race day the numbers are low. But at practice, man thier must be a dozen or better quads out there.
I believe poeple are just intimmidated. All this focus on just high performance quads puts the average joe thinking, man how am I going to put a 250EX or blaster against all these raptors, 400EX's and c-dales. This is a problem, one that will have to be adressed and classes made for this reason.
I will tell you the fact that the new KXF has not come yet has kept me on my lakota. And my lakota has been atracting a heck of a blaster crowd so far. I've raced more than a few times this season and have placed every race I have been in, I'm not bragging. But just stating at the end of each moto I have these teens and early 20's crowd that runs over to me asking, man how did you get so much HP out of that thing. Man your making fools out of these guys. I reply by sticking my ten year old daughter on my auto shift and show them it's just a ordinary quad that a little girl can ride. Then I start talking with them and explaining about how it is practice and experience that gets you up front not 15K in a quad (although we all know 15K in a quad sure does help) Then here comes the raptor and 400EX riders over, bam these kids realize that these guys are cool, they just want to have fun. So far every race it's been like this and the numbers are getting better at the races, but the best part is thier is different faces every week now. The young ones are realizing they can run what they have. The races still lack the big numbers but practice has tripled on the amount of quads practicing to get to the big race.
So in that little story just all us guys talking and joking with these guys have built there confidence to come out and try and bury the idea that just because some one owns a blaster and another owns a raptor doesn't mean the raptor always wins.
Glad to see you have the warrior, I hope to see you out there. I will tell you the crowds rough. They stopped yelling go gaff, go gaff, at me and now they yell gerratall man, basterds, lol. But I would like to see you out there. Being that I'm a 12 year old in a 40 year old body gives me all the desire in the world, now I just need that desire to convince my body that it can go that long.
No realy if we get all ages all skill levels and all sizes of quads we can relly make a better point that all of us can race not just the big boys. Oh and I'm not speaking of my waiste size either.

All,
I think the best idea I've heard so far is to find out what the cost is on renting the track for races. If you start with some flyers about it get names and phone numbers of potential riders it would be easier to come up with something. Say the track wants 300.00 for the day. Easy math is if ten quads so up to race it's 30.00 per rider. If 20 quads so up charge 15. If 30 quads so up charge the 15.00 and have cash prizes with the rest. I would also have the 90cc class and give cash prizes to them, How pumped up would a 10 year old have telling his school buddies he won money racing. That should get more people out on the weekend.
You will need to layout all the classes first so poeple would know what class they are racing in probably by age and cc's. This would be easy to do I wouldn't worry about the class A, B, C thing for now just get the riders.
When you talk to the track make sure they will groom and water it. run the big boys first so they can break down the chunks of dirt from grooming and when it's nice and smooth run the smaller quads.
I wish I leved closer to all this mess, it sounds like the perfect job for me.

yea we need all the help we can get. most of the time the track owners wont even talk to us. and gaff before my boy got the dale ride he was riding a blaster and placing every race. he has only raced 7 times and has 6 trophy's with 1 first. his first race was in march at holeshot and they had 19 quads and he ran 6 th. he was in front of 2 raptors and a few banshees too. his little blaster is awesome fast now but still running the stock suspension. we tore it down right before he started riding the dale and put in a vitos piston, milled the head .020 and polished it, put in a vitos jet kit plus he has a fatty pipe with a power core 2 silecer. kip is talkng about running the bike classes a different weekend or quads on saturday and bikes on sunday of the same weekend. i dont plan on racing the warrior but would love to. im 43 and had tripple bypass last year so the tracks area little much for me but i still love o ride.let you know when i find out where we are going this weekend. have you been to breaux bridge yet ? my son loves that track and there are some good people there too. we are looking forward to this months race there. later

markvette is the track you are talking about in Wiggins kind of out in the woods? A buddy of mine and I found one there but it needed a little work, this has been almost a year ago. The track was nice but very sanddy and loose, need water bad. If it is another track could you give me some directions so I could check it out. There is a track in Purvis called Rock Hill that I have been to a few times, never raced just practiced, and is fun. Its more of a super cross style track, to me, with mainly jump after jump not much ground time and pretty short.

yea it sounds like the same place. its pretty sandy but kip would bring more dirt in and mix it with the sand. i wouldnt race on it right now but kip has big ideas and i dont think he will half-a$$ it. we go there because its only about 45 nminutes from the house and riding spots are hard to find now days. i ride and so does my 8 year old so we need a place to go just to have some fun sometimes. its not much now but its a start and has a lot of potential. the lady that owns it doesnt have any equipment to take care of it, her husband drags the track every now and then with his tractor. we were thinkng about racing purvis this saturdau night andthen meeting kip in wiggins sunday so he can look at the track and talk to the owner. do you race or just ride. later

I mainly just ride, a few play races. I really enjoy mx I just don't have the time to train enough to be competitive and there aren't enough quads doing it around here. There is one Pro at Purvis on a banshee named Bobby who is very fast, watch out for him.
Have you and your child ever been to Rattle Snake Bay in New Agusta? I go down there sometimes, it a good place to ride. You can make your own pace and no one will run over you. There is also some loops that are jump filled and LOTS of fun. Every so often they run hare scrambles ou there.
