Just bought 03 SPEED, it is very twitchy at high speeds. I remember reading about adjusting the toe-in and so forth, or is the stock the best setup? Do I just need a steering stabilizer?

We put a PEP steering stabilizer on our Speed and it made a huge difference!

 

Is the problem on a smooth surface or do you feel this on a track?
Toe in would probably help but your front tires/wheels could also be causing this. You got a buddy who owns a Honda you could swap tires/wheels with to eliminate that as being the problem? Both C'dales I own/owned had this high speed twitchy feel, the FX400 worse than the Cannibal but I only experienced it on the street. I know, I know, what the heck you doing riding it fast in the street, to **** off my neighbors of course!!

 

I adjusted my tow to 0 and I like that seeting.I am also running front radials with ofset rims.

 

The Cannondales are all twitchy at high speeds compared to the other models.

The problem is what Brian suggested. The wheels and tires. Any other ATV with these tires have the same problem. It's worse with the offset that comes stock on the Cannondales. Like Brian said, swap with a 400EX owner and you will be able to tell the difference night and day. I am now using 400EX wheels on the front. I didn't pick them to rid of the "twitchiness" but for strength and to narrow the front end. I didn't notice that the twitch was gone until two weeks after putting them on when I hit an old fire road while messing around one evening. I am still using the Holeshots.

As on any other quad, a steering damper should help out, but I haven't tried it first hand to find out on a Cannondale.
